What a joke. I really enjoy the easy parent/teacher information and messaging. BUT WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO SEND MY SONS TEACHER AN “URGENT” MESSAGE?? AS WELL AS THE “READ RECEIPTS”?? I’m not happy and I’m also not shocked that this app has altered into a money gimmick. I will not spend a dime on this app let alone $59 for a “year subscription”.
  • Inconsistent notifications

Sometimes I know when something is posted, sometimes I don’t. I check often, but there are multiple places teachers can post, and all class streams run together on the stories. Every teacher uses the app a little differently (which is fine), but without proper notification flags it becomes a bit of a game of whack-a-mole trying to find pertinent info. Everything is correctly set up on my settings and I have updated/reinstalled/rechecked settings several times. Just a glitchy app! I would like to have the option of email notifications, but unfortunately you can’t set those up if you are using the mobile app.

I really like being able to see school announcements and being able to message my kids teachers without having to text them. Only encountered two issues in the 3 years I’ve used it, and they’ve been fixed rather quickly by the developers so I’d definitely recommend it! *Thanks for the response for the last issue. All of our messages were restored and I can access everything again!*

The concept is awesome. My child loves when she gets awarded points at home, and I can choose to reward a variety of good behaviors and tasks. I love that I’m able to engage with my child’s teachers, and check in on the points she receives in class. However, almost every single function and feature is behind a “paywall”. Not a one time purchase either, another unnecessary subscription service at nearly sixty dollars a year, more if you pay per month. These types of web/cloud based apps DO incur ongoing costs in order to provide features like unlimited messaging, and they offer this service for free with NO ADS, and I presume that the vast majority of active users are taking advantage of this free version. So a subscription based service is seemingly the only other option, and that’s fine. The constant pop ups and reminders to subscribe to the paid version were annoying at most. Until today. I can no longer give my kid home points, which the developer claims is a limited but free function for parents and teachers. I now have to sign up for the “try it free for a week” Plus subscription which requires a credit card and needs to be cancelled before the end of the free trial to avoid an automatic annual subscription payment. This is not a bug. It’s intentional design that aims to exploit parents’ desire to encourage good behavior in their children. Class dojo was created by a greedy app developer that is willing to inhibit a child’s tangible self worth and motivation, for the sake of profit.

I sent an important message to two teachers this morning. Now all our messages are gone. I have no idea if they got my messages.
